Specialization in DiversityIn addition to my general psychological training, I hold specialized training in diversity and sociocultural perspectives. I serve a wide spectrum of individuals and work in a strength and evidence-based approach with consideration of sociopolitical dynamics, systemic oppression and collective trauma.
Many of us hold various identities that are important to us whether that is race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, gender, class, or religion. Greater numbers of individuals today are also in relationships and families that reflect intersecting identities (e.g., parenting multiracial children, interracial or interfaith relationships). It can be helpful to examine issues of privilege and oppression and the impact it has on our relationships. I have had extensive training in working with individuals to explore their multiple and intersecting identities and to strengthen their sense of self and connection with others. I provide consultation to other therapists and conduct workshops and presentations on these topics, as well. |
Individuals I’ve worked with include individuals who are…

… Managing workplace stress that may be related to the invisible dynamics related to race, sexual orientation, or gender.
… Struggling with anxiety or depression related to reproductive struggles or parenting.
… Dealing with loss related to a family member that requires culturally-specific practices.
… Coping with role-strain related to the multiple needs of immigrant family-of-origin.
… Facing stress as a first-generation college/graduate student.
